Allegro Harrington Park’s resident-run library is more than just a collection of books; it's a vibrant hub of learning, community, and joy. This beloved space thrives under the dedicated care and passion of a trio of extraordinary women, residents Sandra Cooper, Florence Poris, and Rosalie Pastore. With invaluable assistance from the community’s Lifestyle Director, Laura Finbloom, and Lifestyle Assistant, Lisa Licamelli, these ladies have transformed the library into one of the most cherished and frequented areas in the community.

A Legacy of Love for Books

Florence brings over 30 years of experience as a librarian at Haworth Public School to Allegro. Her deep-rooted love for books and dedication to fostering a love of reading has been the driving force behind the establishment and success of the community library. Teaming up with Sandra, Florence aimed to create a space where residents could immerse themselves in the joys of reading. Their shared vision has come to life beautifully, making the library a testament to their hard work and passion.

The ladies meticulously organize and maintain the space daily. Their commitment ensures that it remains a welcoming and orderly environment for all residents. Their efforts go beyond simple maintenance; they breathe life into the library, making it a dynamic and engaging space for everyone.

A Hub for Book Lovers

Surprisingly, the library is not just a place for quiet reading; it’s a vibrant social hub, thanks to the Allegro Book Club. The club, run by Lisa, brings together residents who share a love for literature. Each month, members gather to discuss their latest reads, delve into new books, and share their insights and interests. Lisa’s enthusiasm and knowledge make these meetings both enjoyable and enriching, fostering a deeper sense of community among participants.

Collaborative Efforts for Enriching Lives

Laura plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the library continues to meet the needs and interests of the residents. She meets monthly with the trio to discuss and select new books for the library. This collaborative effort ensures that the literary collection is constantly evolving, offering fresh and exciting reads that cater to the diverse tastes of the community.

 A Bright Beacon

The resident-run library at Allegro Harrington Park stands as a shining example of what a passionate and dedicated community can achieve. It’s a space that not only houses books but also fosters friendships, ignites intellectual curiosity, and provides comfort and joy to all who visit. The library is a daily testament to the love and care of Florence, Sandra, and Rosalie, and the supportive guidance of Laura and Lisa.

"Our library is more than just a collection of books; it's a testament to the power of community and the joy of lifelong learning,” Laura notes. “Thanks to the dedication of Florence, Sandra, and Rosalie, it has become a beloved space where residents come together to explore, share, and grow. It’s an honor to support and witness the vibrant life that this library brings to our community."
